Steve co-founded Maestas & Ward Commercial Real Estate in 1996, and is responsible for its success, growth and diversification. Currently serving as the Managing Partner, Steve has built the company into the state’s recognized commercial real estate leader. With over 25 years of experience, Steve is well suited in all aspects of the industry, including serving as an Owner, Qualifying Broker, Advisor and Developer. Under his leadership, Steve mentors and manages a team of 50 professionals. Maestas & Ward retains an unparalleled reputation for innovation and performance and is highly regarded by its clients and market peers.

Additionally, Steve is also the founder and Managing Partner of Prime Properties; a New Mexico based commercial real estate development company. Under his direction, Prime Properties has developed and acquired mutiple projects throughout New Mexico and Texas, with a value of over 180 million dollars. Furthermore, Steve is a partner and co-owner of Sun Vista Enterprises, which operates maintenance, landscape, and HVAC divisions that services over 1.5 million square feet of commercial space.

Steve began his career in 1985 working in the retail banking industry, where his responsibilities included management, sales and customer service. In 1989, he joined Coldwell Banker, now CBRE, and quickly became a top sales associate until his departure in1996. Steve has personally handled over 1500 transactions throughout his career and is a seasoned veteran. He is recognized for maintaining a high standard of ethics, serves as a market leader and is often regarded as a top opinion expert for the real estate market.

Steve is actively involved with various community and philanthropic organizations and participates on numerous boards. Personally, he has spent time serving various humanitarian and mission groups travelling to third world counties and disaster relief areas. He also enjoys travel and fly fishing. He is married and lives in Los Ranchos de’ Albuquerque with his wife.
