Kino James, Partner, has 20 years experience in the commercial real estate business in New Mexico. An Albuquerque native and University of New Mexico alum with a BA in Business Finance, Kino joined Maestas & Ward as an owner/principal in January 2001. Kino is an expert in retail brokerage, leasing, tenant representation, property development, and financing. He heads the Maestas & Ward Retail Group currently with seven retail-specific advisors.

Kino excels in investment brokerage, having sold over $150,000,000 in commercial retail properties throughout New Mexico since joining Maestas & Ward. Transactions include large power centers, neighborhood shopping centers, single tenant properties, and vacant land parcels.

In addition Kino is an experienced tenant rep broker with a proven track record. His retail group at Maestas & Ward has numerous national and local accounts. As example, as the exclusive New Mexico and El Paso tenant broker, he identified and completed 42 separate locations for Starbucks.

Kino is a skilled leasing agent having successfully negotiated hundreds of retail leases ranging from 100,000 sq ft anchor spaces to 600 sq ft retail shops. He is currently the exclusive property leasing agent for the 1 million sq ft Winrock Town Center in Albuquerque and the exclusive disposition agent for Walgreens in New Mexico.

Kino’s membership affiliation’s include; NAIOP, National Association of Office and Industrial Professionals; ICSC, International Council of Shopping Centers; CARNM, Commercial Association of Realtors in New Mexico; and RBN, Retail Brokers Network.

Outside the office Kino's interests are diverse, including landscape painting, golf, tennis, skiing and gardening.
